He still wins, though.
Super middleweight Jordan ‘The Terror’ Tai was fighting the previously undefeated ‘Smokin’ Joe Blackbourn in Auckland on Saturday when he thought he had won the fight after landing a flurry of blows that sent his opponent to the canvas.
As the referee started the standard eight count, 34-year-old Tai rushed over to celebrate with the crowd by jumping on to the ropes but unfortunately for ‘The Terror’ he misjudged the height of the rope and tumbled spectacularly.
The former kickboxing champ managed to grab hold of the rope and a luckily pull himself back into the ring – saving himself further embarrassment of falling into the crowd.
The first round knock down was not the end of the fight as Blackbourn managed to gather his composure and fight on – unsuccessfully. Blackbourn was knocked out a short time later. The win takes Tai’s professional boxing record to eight wins and one loss from his nine fights.
