Mongoose vs cobra

When they face off, the outcome is utterly unpredictable.

It’s the classic battle between two age-old enemies as these two creatures stare into each other’s eyes.

Who will win in a fight between a snake and a mongoose?
Depends on the snake and the mongoose. The Indian Grey Mongoose (Herpestes edwardsii) is somewhat immune to cobra bites and is very agile, so can win in a fight with a cobra. However, the mongoose in the wild will probably avoid the snake even though they’re stronger, as they eat lots of other animals and would rather not work so hard for their meal. This is why efforts to control snakes in certain Pacific Islands by importing mongooses ended up in disaster: The Mongooses started eating wild birds and rodents and didn’t touch the snakes.
